Psychiatry is a medical discipline. It covers research into as well as diagnosis and treatment of mental and psycho-social disorders affecting people as well as prevention of these diosrders and rehabilitation.
Treatment consists primarily of organic methods (e.g psycho-active medication, psycho- therapy and socio-therapy). We provide these therapeutic services in out-patient, in-patient and day clinic settings. We also make use of complementary mental health services.
Our current range of specialist services includes treatment for:
- Organic mental illnesses
- Organic conditions brought on by psychological factors
- Psychotic conditions
- Stress and adaptation disorders
- Somatoform disorders
- Personality disorders
We work in close collaboration with various other disciplines, e.g. neurology, psychology, sociology, psychoanalysis and behavioural research. Some individual psychiatric clinics may vary from one another in the “school” of practice and the clinical approaches which they adopt.
